Re:
Hi everyone, how are you? What have you been watching? |
I've spent a month far away, first in Florida, then in Spain. But I did managed to stock up on some new things to watch while in Florida, a cousin of mine gave me some recommendations. I took no laptop with me for the whole trip, but I have to say, having an Android phone still allowed me to keep watching stuff, thank you google. Otherwise I spent much of my downtime either messing with Mario Kart 7 or some other DS game I wanted to play and try to get 100% on. Too bad the 3DS is region locked, I could have gotten Kingdom Hearts earlier...
So to add to my perspective besides better recognition of Spain, anime and manga are quite prevalent in Spain at least. You can find at least manga in most department stores (that are named El Corte Inglés) or you can try fnac (which appears to be the mix of both Best Buy and Borders over there). Surprisingly you can find Mazinger Z merchandise as well.
I have found there are four kinds of smells that can disturb the quality of air in a Spanish city... And I even found a book about Boredom itself...
So far I've watched: (please excuse, but I've seeing more than just anime)
- LOGH: Spiral Labyrinth
I have no idea why I started with Spiral Labyrinth first among all the side stories, I lost the file I had for the viewing order. Since then, I've been rewatching certain episodes of LOGH and trying to identify the music I liked from certain scenes. - A good chunk of Adventure Time (need the remainder of season 3, then to season 4)...
- Played Portal 2 and finished it; so now I know the concept of a combustible lemon...
- Pokemon Best Wishes, the whole of it.(now need to move on to Best Wishes 2, the gym battles are really unexpected and twist upon the expected standard to anyone who plays pokemon).
- Wakfu, some french animation I was recommended to see, not sure where it came from. Fantasy based, more enjoyable if you played Portal since the main character gives thinking with portals a magical twist. I've only seen the first 26 so far, not sure if the next 26 will implode the plot though.
- Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ, managed to obtain it... The opening song made me choke a bit, it was just so unexpected. After watching a few episodes, it made me yearn for Zeta already. Well so far I have seen about 10 episodes.
- Full Metal Panic, I have only seen one episode, it was another thing I was recommended to watch.
- Legend of Korra, I have not watched this yet, but at least now I can watch it should I feel the need to.
- London 2012 Olympics opening ceremony. Loved the early part with the thousand drums. The other part I liked was the Mr.Bean segment. Honestly NBC is rude with the timing of advertisements, plus there were so many of them.
So otherwise it's been rather lonely. A bit of a quiet time, although I do like the latest song Crush 40 has created.
Otherwise I do wonder, does Pixiv have Hetalia pictures for the Olympics, like FIFA 2010?

Copying from the Facebook thread.
Area no Kishi: It's like Touch, except with soccer. Eureka Seven AO: Take E7, set it in contemporary times, strip out the hipster stuff, and add a dash of timey-wimeyness. Ginga e Kickoff! (dropped): Fifth graders learn how to soccer. Gundam AGE: Level 5's love letter to the Universal Century. Highly predictable if you've seen enough Gundam. Kuroko's Basketball: High school basketball starring the dude who can jump really high and the guy who can pass really well. Surprisingly fun and fast-paced. Moyashimon Returns: Brew ALL of the things! MuvLuv Alternative: Total Eclipse: Robot show with pilot suits that go beyond the impossible and aliens that make Johnny Rico go "GUYS I GOT THIS." Ozuma: Sand submarines. And their whaaaaaaaaales. Phi Brain: Puzzle of God: Shounen-y show where people fight with their brains by solving puzzles. Rinne no Lagrange S2: Robots designed by Nissan piloted by girls with confused feelings for each other. Kamogawa Kamogawa Kamogawa. Saint Seiya Omega: Mindless shounen with troperrific fighting and plot devices, but a metric butt-ton of danservice. Zetman: Brutal deconstruction of tokusatsu-style heroes.

Re:
For those of us still in Pittsburgh, here's a reminder that this weekend is the Sangawa Project, Pittsburgh's 18+ otaku gathering. |
Speaking of which, is anyone actually planning to go to the Vermillion meeting instead of Sangawa? I'd go, but I think I may be the only one...

It's probably a bit late at this point, but I'm here...
